Za'atar scones. With all my baking, you'd think I was a real sweet tooth, but I'm a lover of all things savoury. And za'atar, well, I'm all in on that stuff too. It's bloody delicious in all its herby goodness.

Ingredients of Za'atar scones
- It's 2 cups of AP flour.
- It's 1 tbsp of BP.
- You need 5 tbsp of unsalted butter, chilled and diced small pieces.
- It's 1 cup of heavy cream.
- You need 1/2 cup of za'atar.

Za'atar scones step by step
- Preheat the oven 450 f. in a bowl mix the flour, bp and za'atar, add the chilled butter, using a fork or a dough cutter, mix the butter into the flour, until pea size..
- Add the cream, knead just to combine and gather the ingredients don't over knead, wrap in plastic wrap, refrigerate for about 30 minutes..
- Roll your dough on lightly floured surface about 1/2 inch thickness, if your dough is not sticky, you don't even need the flour, cut into circles or triangles.
- Brush with egg wash, bake on a sheet pan for about 15 minutes until surface is browned.
After some experimentation, which is best forgotten, I finally decided on the savoury option of cheese scones filled with a swirl of the za'atar mix. Chock full of zucchini and with a hint of Zaatar, which adds a marvelous herbal note, these scones make for a delicious savory alternative at tea. First cut along the dark lines, then cut along. For the scones: Place the flours, baking powder, salt, sugar and zaatar in the bowl of a food processor. Add the butter in chunks and pulse the machine a few times until the butter no longer is visible and the mixture becomes like coarse sand.
